Jimmy Page’s iconic 1959 Fender Telecaster, famously modified with a psychedelic “Dragon” paint job, featured a rare top-loading bridge. Unlike standard Telecasters, where strings pass through the back of the body, a top-loader allows strings to anchor directly to the back of the bridge plate, resulting in lower string tension and easier bending. The Jimmy Page top-loading setup is directly responsible for the buttery, slinky feel and aggressive bends on classic Led Zeppelin tracks like “Stairway to Heaven”. Fender recreated this historic instrument as the Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster. This signature model features a dual-loader bridge, allowing you to switch between a traditional string-through setup or the signature top-load feel. The Sound and Feel of Top-Loading Professional guitarists and reviewers who have spent time with Page’s signature top-loading Telecaster note the distinct difference in playing feel and resonance compared to standard models.

We channel the original spirit and amazing designs of LEO FENDER—modular, serviceable, and built for players.
The beauty of the Leo Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster designs is exactly that: bolt-on necks, simple routing, and parts you can swap without a luthier degree. His design invites customization.
In 1964, once CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) large-scale mass production took over at Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, cost efficiencies inevitably became Fender’s primary concern—cheaper pots, generic pickups, inferior wood/multi-piece bodies, etc. —which impacted playability/collectability.
Guitar Monkey allows you to avoid paying for branding, marketing, and mass production.
